It's not is it. I like the 5Dc thread much better than the 5D2 thread (which is why I still come back here as frequently as I view the mark 2. It's sad, I was hoping for the same "community" feeling in there but it's just not there.

I think there are people here who have used other [crop] bodies extensively and have saved up our pennies for this wonderful old camera, and really appreciate the incredible images it produces. People that can afford a 5DmkII money is likely less of an issue, and therefore the camera may be held for bragging rights. Just a theory, I could be wrong and I'd love to have a 5dmkii!!!

I had CPS send me both the 5DII and the 1DsMkIII and I really think my next camera buy will be a Leica M9. Now that is truly impressive. All manual, no FPS, NO VIDEO, a photographers camera. I found both the 1DsMkII and the 5DII having to much stuff I don't use or want. The menu's are a mess and way to big. Just to much stuff or me and my style of shooting.

I did like the higher pixel count, the micro adjust and the higher ISO but not enough to pull the trigger on either.

Maybe a bit of generalization but I think some 5DII owners went through this route:

-Bought the first DSLR, whether it be Rebel or xxD
-Couldn't get good pics, didn't bother learning the basics, think it's the gear
-Heard that FF is the way to go. Since 1DsIII is way out of the price range, they end up with a 5DII.
-Have the "look at me I have a 5DII, what you have a Rebel/40D/5Dc? Come on is this 2003?" feeling toward other photog.

Of course there are lots 5DII owners that previously own 5D and upgraded to 5DII b/c they've outgrown the 5D or have saved enough money to finally get the dream camera.

Just my theory.

HMMM In my opinion you get knowledge and then start realizing most of the stuff the companies are selling you are just bells and whistles. I have the skill and the knowledge and I would rather be the one controlling it all and I don't want to have to turn stuff off. I would rather it not be there to begin with. I am perfectly happy with my 5Ds. An upgrade for me would be an M9

Tiff, nice series. I bet Allen's salivating over the car photo ops. :)

Thanks!

Nice Tiff and yes Geno that old car rocks.

Thanks and lol. I'm not sure who owns it....I snuck next to their garage.

One of the labs I use just rolled out new prices on their gallery wrapped canvas and gave me a 16x20 of the car image. I love it.....just wish it were larger.

I tend to agree with this comment Allen. Now that I have the 5D2 I could have lived with the 5Dc and been just fine. I don't need the video, don't need FPS or a lot of the other stuff it does. Main reason I upgraded was because I didn't have to "pay" for it. I sold my 5Dc, my dad sold a lot of his old gear and we now "share" the mark II.. i.e., I have it all the time. lol

I have five things on the My Menu page and that's pretty much all that I use. It's actually simpler because you don't have to even scroll off the page.

Not me. :) I did the G2, a couple of crappier P&S's, 40D, 1D2, 5D, 1D3, 5D, 1D3, 5D2 route. Add in a 30D and a T2i for the step son...

I know I'll end up with another body soon, not sure what it'll be but it'll most likely be Canon.
