After a lot of agonising (7D/5D) I just bought a (lightly used) second hand 5D yesterday. I'm really excited about it. I joined this forum to follow this thread, and hope to post some worthy images at some stage in the future.

So erm, hi everybody.

Welcome, you made the right choice. :)

Welcome! Look forward to seeing what you add to the thread

Thanks. Based on the quality of the pictures I've seen, it may be some time before I'm at the required standard, but it's a good challenge.

I'm interested in your signature - is the 135L really that amazing? I have the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and am after something longer for outdoor portraits. I was going to start with the 85 f/1.8.

Simply, yes. It is that amazing. The 85/1.8 will really shine on FF as well, great start if you haven't used primes before and its a great starter lens.

Another with the 135L at f/2. I love my shoes, I think I may have too many......nah.

The 85 is really nice (great actually) and I loved it especially on crop for doing headshots and such, I still love it (and the images are better) on FF, but I feel like the 135L might be in my future. :o

There is very little difference from 75mm (on your Tammy 28-75) to 85mm, try shooting at the long end and see how you like it first. Might want to consider the 100mm f/2 which is similar price but a bit longer.

Good choice. It's a killer of a lens. I might pick up a used 85/1.8 or something soon. Just so many directions I could go right now. I hate this many choices lol

Actually, I like the original. Nice shot.

If you want to lighten it up, you could simulate a GND filter in PS without having to do a fill.

Thanks, Tom, for the tip. I completely forgot about using a GND filter. The two days I was there the weather was great. I would have liked some clouds, but clear skies all around.
Thanks, again, for taking the time to comment, Joe
