My local camera store cleaned it for me in while I watched, and only charged me for the cleaning kit, which, now I can use myself...

thank you :) Not sure if we have one of those around here or not. I have looked and all I see are pawn shops LOL

One more... probably... maybe... how inconvenient is the lack of micro adjustment?

I had the 40d last year and i actually dont know if it has that or not, but I had frustration after frustration with that camera. :/ I had the 50 1.8.. it broke in 2 after only having it for a month. I had the 50 1.4 and it was never sharp. I had the sigma 30 and it was my fave lens by far....... until it quit focusing right. I don't want to encounter those things this time around. Of course, all those lenses were used.

You definitely want one that has the mirror reinforcement done. Also look for ones that are said to have been used by a "Professional/careful" photographer. 99% of the listings I've seen say there is wear on the flash hotshoe, so expect that. I've never seen an actuation count for any (or even mine) but if its good condition, I wouldn't worry about that much. Considering, however, that the camera you buy may have been purchased in 05-07(?), unless it was used rarely, you should expect quite a few clicks.

I don't agree with all of this. Only certain specimens have the mirror problem, and those outside that range are (supposedly) in no danger of the mirror coming off - no more than with any other model or brand. And you can bet that by the time a professional photographer is done with his/her 5Dc it will have had a LOT of use, so shutter/mirror mechanism/operating controls/cable sockets etc will all have been well used. No matter how careful that use may be it still takes its toll.

Still, I don't believe there is actually much interest in these cameras any more. Mine's been listed for weeks now, in A1 condition with few clicks and at a low price, and I haven't had a SINGLE enquiry. That really surprises me.

Look in the "Classifieds: Sell" sub-forum. You'll find quite a lot there, including mine - https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=987888

I think this thread totally sold me on going from my XTi to a 5D Classic.

These pictures are absolutely stunning!

They are! And it's a great camera...but note also the list of lenses under most the "regulars" posts, and their relative experience. I love using the 5D, but pictures with my T2i with my better glass are very comparable. I love switching between the two bodies, and how it transforms all my lens' perspectives.

Oh I totally understand, but I just got my XTi back from Canon for a repair and I think its the perfect opportunity to upgrade. I have a lens that won't fit a full frame camera, so selling that and my XTi will help fund this 5DC.

I told myself I wasn't going to upgrade unless it was full frame and this may be that time.

The pricepoint for a 5DC right now is at the super sweet spot. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the new bodies have but boy can it produce stunning images. I had L lenses on my XTi before and they looked good but the color, contrast is a big step up. One thing that shocked me when I first switched was that in FF you actually get bokeh at f/4, not so much on a crop body.
