Well...I didn't. My own rationalization was that by getting a 5D I was doubling my lenses. For example, your nifty on a 5D will be very close in range to your 30 on the crop, so yeah, you could lose the 30. The 70-200 though, is wonderfully long on a crop, but is a great "intimate" length on the FF. See what I mean? For the price of the 5D you get a whole new set of lenses (plus FF sweetness). In other words, I'm holding onto my T2i, but maybe that's just me...

This is true but if he doesn't want to go wider than the 30mm, then the 50mm on a full frame will feel about right. Because I use zooms I get less of an affect of 'new' lenses so I can't comment much on that. I just notice the reach of the lenses I have is different.

For now I'm keeping my 20D as a backup but I have a strong feeling it will not get much use. I'm curious if you find yourself switching much between your 5D and T2i much?

I didn't pick up the T2i for a month and thought I would never go back to it. However, last week I took both out and shot about 500 on the 5D and 150 on the Rebel. When I checked them I was surprised (and happy) to find that the keeper rate was about the same. My favorite lens right now is the sigma 85, and it gives fantastic DOF, sharpness and color on any camera, and the focal length is more attractive to me on a crop. This is a T2i shot, but you'd never know it. http://www.flickr.com …las-pixgalore/5395270409/ (external link)
Sorry, I don't mean to sing the praises of a different camera on the 5Dc:o I'm not a spy or troll or anything, honest:)

A card reader is way better than a direct connect with the %D!

Why beat up your camera batteries?

Card Reader FTW!

A local camera store told me $75 to clean my sensor! I ended up buying a kit online for $20 and cleaned it myself. Couldn't have been happier.

Yeah, it's not a huge deal cleaning your sensor, and besides there are too many stories about having a shop clean it and it coming back still crappy.

i've been thinking of getting one. but do you think i'll notice much difference versus my 60D with my lens line up? i don't really plan on getting any other lenses. the price is great now. i would be keeping my 60D too. i don't need a backup, but if it can provide a bit extra in certain types of pics i'd be interested

is there anything i need to know about regarding the serial numbers?

i'd be looking to use it for portraits, landscapes, and macro. i don't need great autofocus because for this camera id most likely use it on tripods and set up my shots carefully when i can. and i think my 100L macro would be nice on the 5dc. i like to manual focus when possible. i do wish it had liveview though.

hmm... decisions decisions...

your 10-22 and 17-55 will not fit on the 5D.

What kit did you get and where from? Are there some kits that are better than others (which ones to stay away from)?

Thanks

USB 2.0 presumably. Are there any USB 3.0 ones yet?
