What kit did you get and where from? Are there some kits that are better than others (which ones to stay away from)?

Thanks

I use a Brillo pad and some Ajax. Gets all the crud off :D Then I put it under the tap to get the Ajax out.

Is a card reader that much faster? I've been using a USB forever....haha.

YES! It's much faster. First thing I bought when I got my 5D.

Well...I didn't. My own rationalization was that by getting a 5D I was doubling my lenses. For example, your nifty on a 5D will be very close in range to your 30 on the crop, so yeah, you could lose the 30. The 70-200 though, is wonderfully long on a crop, but is a great "intimate" length on the FF. See what I mean? For the price of the 5D you get a whole new set of lenses (plus FF sweetness). In other words, I'm holding onto my T2i, but maybe that's just me...

I kept my 7D when I got the 5D. I love both cameras and use them for different thngs. The 7Ds autofocus is amazing compared to the 5Ds and the 8fps burst is pretty sweet too. I've been using the 7D for action shots and kiddos (my neices mostely) and the 5D for portraits and shots where I want razor thin DOF. I'm saving up for an 85L II which I think will not leave the 5D once I get it! It's amazing what people are doing with that combo! I

There are a few "standard" approaches to sensor cleaning. It starts with a blower -- the Giotto Rocket Blower is pretty much the leader in the field. This can get most dust off with no sensor contact.

From there you can move to "dry cleaning" methods -- two are the Sensor Pen and the Visible Dust Arctic Butterfly, which combines a battery-powered swiveling brush with "static pickup" charge.

Eventually, though, you'll need to resort to wet-cleaning. The standard there has for years been the Eclipse fluid with Sensor Swabs. Eclipse is very close to contaminant-free alcohol (better than your off-the-shelf alcohol, although you can find some very pure alcohol if you shop around). Sensor swabs are simply special cloth-tipped "things" but you can (and should) get ones designed for your particular sensor size.

There was something that came up back when the 5D was first released -- the early sensors were not consistent in their AA filter coating and the pure alcohol content of the Eclipse actually eroded it. The Eclipse makers put out a "less pure" product (Eclipse 2) but they worked with Canon to quickly solve the QA issues, replaced all the affected sensors, and so the recommended solution went back to the original Eclipse. You will eventually hear stories though...:)!

Here's the direct link for Eclipse and Sensor Swabs (you can get them from other sources as well):

Thanks =O...I'm really loving how much I can crop on the 5d, and the Nifty is really awesome on it.

On a side note...I'm thinking of renting the 35L when summer comes around
