I've been dying for this lens to come out, as I'm in serious need of a UWA. So I googled it for any new news (yes I'm that desperate). Usually there is nothing, but today a Polish site comes up:

http://www.wyobrazsobie.pl …--falcon-jeszcze-nie.aspx (external link)

If you use google chrome you can translate it: The translation is quite funny.

Lens Falcon 14 mm f/2.8 ED IF Aspherical MC was to have premiered earlier this month. It was, however, hated, as the producer decides to make changes in the structure to improve the resolution of the lens.

Hate is such a strong word! However, the good parts:

In turn the lens Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF (we have written about here ) is final and Monday you can buy it in the shop www.foto-tip.pl (external link) . More information about Samyang lenses and sample photos taken Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF can be found on page www.samyang.pl (external link).

At the bottom of the link is a press release, saying someone called "Delta" is the first place to have received final copies. Wonder how long it'll be before North America gets it. Was there a big delay with the 85mm?

I'm hoping for this guy to be out soon. Nice, inexpensive, wide prime.

Their fisheye and 85mm are both quite good for the money. I am expecting te 14mm f2.8 and 35mm f1.2 lenses will be similarly good.

Do you really need AF with a 14mm lens? To answer your question, no, they aren't.

Samyang has new samples up on a 5D2. While they're not full size, they look REALLY good for $450 and damn good for any 14mm lens, at least at this size. Looks sharp all the way to the corners with good color and contrast.

Looked at the exif on those. Does anyone know why the exif shows a focal length of 50mm in 5 out of 6? And for one of them, the exif shows a focal length of 19mm, aperture of f/22, and max aperture of f/4?

In any case, I hope it's not us being fooled, because I am really really excited for this lens.

If the lens doesn't have electronics the exif data will sometimes be confused about focal length and aperture.

Ah ok. I guess that the corners wouldn't be pulled out on a 50mm anyways. Duh.
