There are alot of links -have you looked at the videos that are on B&h web site? They contain alot of information - I watched them and got a good idea about the different features on the 7d ,I don't have that link right now but it is in different threads. There are a few other videos on the web too-you could probably google them-they are very helpfull. The 7D offers alot of different setting for just the focus and the scenerios in which to use them in differs. You really need to study up on these and figure out the setting that you need for each different situation. At first it's a little overwhelming but once you get the basic ideas then it becomes more second nature. What camera are you coming from? The xxd series are similar and that has really helped me get a grasp of the 7D.There is still a learning curve-you'llsee that the 7D is not a very forgiving camera but if you get it right it really performs.
Thanks. I'm fine with the AF and stuff like that. I've read the manual (twice) and feel comfortable with the camera, but the videos etc obviously don't really talk about decent general settings for image parameters like sharpening, so I just wondered if anyone had any input.
For instance when I first used Olympus the big thing was to turn 'gradation' to low as it often caused banding problems and additional noise (as if there wasn't enough already!).
I came from a long list of Olympus cameras (420, 520, E-30, E-1, E-P1), and I mainly made the switch to get better high ISO results. The Olympus gear was excellent, particularly the Zuiko glass, but I just found myself getting frustrated with excessive noise @ 800 etc. The only Canon I have owned is a 400D (the XTi I think?), which was a couple of years ago now, but I was always happy with the high ISO performance of that, which is why I came back to Canon.
