I tried a search on this forum and I didn't find anything on this lens. Does anyone here have/know/used/bought this lens? :) For a wide angle prime at this price, it should be good? If you have experience please give me some feedback since I'm interested. Thanks! :)

plasticmotif seems to be the general authority on this lens here. Ask him - he rented from lensrentals.com I believe. I think he actually prefers this lens over Zeiss 21 because of the attractive pricing.

You can rent it from lensrentals. It's fantastically well built and light. I found it to be comparable to anything else in the focal range....only 1/3 the weight and size.

I don't have pictures to post at the moment(hard drive failure), but if I don't like the Samyang 14, I'm going to for the Voigtlander. I do lots of hiking....it's small size and weight would be much appreciated over my 24-70.

I'd rather have it over the ZE 21 because of the price, sure. Moreso because of the weight. To put GNDs, NDs, and Polarizers on a ZE 21 is complicated. To do it on the Voigtlander, not so much.

I keep going on an on about lenses wider than 24 on full frame. Good ones cost an arm and a leg...

For me, my UWA is the lens most likely to get damaged. I go to some pretty rough places. I'd cry if a ZE 21 fell over. I'd also whine after 15 miles of hiking with it + lee filter holder + a few 4x4s + 105mm circular polarizer and my other lenses. Light weight wins for me.

I really like the 17-40. I've found it to be better in the corners than most anything at the price. It's better than the 16-35s too. In the native EF mount there really aren't many options.

Honestly, my 24-70 is fantastic at 24. I just don't like lugging the brick around. It's huge and heavy.

I've got the Samyang 14 coming. The initial d700 samples were great looking before they sent it back to be 'fixed'. Unless the 14 is great, it'll go back for the Voigtlander.

Thanks dude. I'm impressed at the corner performance and flare control. Really a bargain! :)

What attracts me to this lens is the size and weight. When I don't feel link carrying a ton of lenses, this one would be it. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Yup. Also, Voigtlander lenses will last longer than you. Their build quality is superb.....which means manually focusing them is that way as well. :D

How is the MF mechanism like? Is it smooth and solid like the Zeiss? :)

No distortion....looks pretty sharp too. It's a winner.

Dayum! No wonder this lens is out of stock at B&H. Does it show perspective distortion?

I rented the 20mm F 3.5 CVS from lensrentals.com for a week. The copy they sent me had horrible vignetting @F8, and the corners were horrid. I was all ready to buy one for 600 clams, but after that experience, decided to not play lens roulette. I ended up with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye instead- and that has been a delightful purchase.

I own and love the CV Ultron 40mm 2 SL-II. It is truly a pleasure on my 1Ds II so I imagine it would suit just as well on any other FF camera. Can't really say the same for crops as I have no experience with it on either the 1.6x or 1.3x format

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind after I recover from my recent spree. Have you posted any shots here?
