The copy they sent me had horrible vignetting @F8, and the corners were horrid. I was all ready to buy one for 600 clams, but after that experience, decided to not play lens roulette. I ended up with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye instead- and that has been a delightful purchase. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Landscape photography. I'd only be using this lens at f8-f22. Thanks Mac. It's a decent lens for such a small size.

This is what interests me about this lens and their 40mm. It would be nice to have something that works on 35mm/FF that is very light. I agree. Hiking with a 200g(it's 4x lighter than my 24-70) lens that's optically comparable to my 24-70 @ 24 and small apertures....I think I could live with it. Mac P.

I got my 24-70 yesterday and that thing is a monster. I seem to had forgotten why it's called 'the brick'.

The main purpose would of course be travel. I am hoping to buy both of these lenses this year. My original plan for a travel lens kit was going to be: 16-35L / 24-70L / 50L. I'm thinking that the Skopar 20, Ultron 40, and 50L would make a reasonably small kit (with the ability for excellent low-light thanks to the 40 and 50) It sure would make my entire bag lighter! It may have issues with flare but, I can work around that.

I'd love a Zeiss 21mm but cant stretch to that for now, so interested in this as an alternative to the 17-40 as I dont need a zoom. It'd be mainly used for landscapes so no problems with stopping down or focusing. Also not bothered about the weight, so I'd be interested in any alternatives in this price range if the IQ is better. I'm not sure about the optical performance at all but, from reading reviews on the net, it's decent. If you check on Flickr, there's a group that uses this lens and the images look pretty good. If this lens is to be used stopped down for landscapes, the IQ is pretty sharp. I would like someone who owns this lens to give us some real feedback bcoz' looking at images doesn't do a thing for me.
