Hi,

I hace a 16 GB Sandisk CF card.. 60MB/s write speed and the problem is this:

It takes me an hour or more to copy files onto my macbook pro where it should surely only take 5 mins? I have formatted the card in the camera (5D Mk II).

It's the same story for both video and RAWs..

What gives? Anyone know hy this is happening?

Thanks

Direct from the camera or are you using a dedicated card reader?

Did you try direct from the camera? Is that better/worse/same?

If direct is better, then I'd say the reader is screwy. Could also go to a computer store and try the card in one of their computers to see if their readers are any better.

Are you using a Firewire connected reader?

If you are able to, you may also want to increase your cluster size to 32K or 64K.

HTH :)

I would try another card reader. Those "no name" card readers don't really perform to specs sometimes. I would recommend any major manufacture such as Sandisk, Lexar, or Hoodman for quality products. If your really looking for speed, I would suggest getting a Firewire card reader. I currently use a Sandisk Firewire card reader and it is absolute amazing. Bewared though that when purchasing a Firewire reader, they are more expensive. I love my FW card reader!

Hope that helps!

Yep, get a Sandisk firewire reader. Saw one on B&H for $59 last night. Looked nice. You got good memory cards, I bet the reader is junk.
