Hello everyone, these are from my first 3 "real" times out where I was solely focused on shooting soccer. I am completely green with PP so there is not much if anything done via that avenue. Please do not hold back on the criticism as I am looking to build a portfolio for future sports shooting missions. Thanks for looking.

All shot by a 50D with 70-200mm F/4L, I am looking into getting a 2.8L so I can throw a 2x TC onto it so my backgrounds are not as cluttered, so I can get more bokeh, and so there is not as much dead space.

#1 but the background is awful cluttered.

Shots 2 & 4 don't do much for me since your player is missing their head. Maybe crop out the player, and just have the ball and the team about to receive it?

Thanks Josh. I was trying to keep the foreground player sending the cross in blurry to keep the focus on the players in the box, but still a part of the action to add context to the picture.

I like the idea on what you were attempting - probably just need to tweak the implementation a little. I wouldn't have thought of shooting like that.

Easy to critique; tough to be creative. ;)

here is the problem with all of your shots: the background. I understand that in a commercial soccer park it can be hard to find clean backgrounds. but I cannot really enjoy the photos when a bright blue porta potty is in the photo.

I appreciate it, thank you.

I agree 100%. I was pretty disappointed with getting the same side two days in a row, but being new to youth soccer photography I did not want to cross the field and possibly cause an issue with the other teams parents. I hope that once I get a teleconverter I can fuzz out the backgrounds.
I appreciate your insight, I will work on it.
