Evening all,

I need a bit of advice. After getting by using manual off-camera flash for a while my ebay triggers have given up the ghost. I'll end up investing in some Pocket wizards or Skyports, but that's another thread...

What I thought is that it's probably time to invest in some more substantial studio lighting but what are people's thoughts with regards,

1) plug-in flash heads vs. continuous lighting.
2) portability of the set-up.
3) battery vs. mains power.
4) umbrellas vs. soft boxes.
5) How much do you think you need to spend to get a couple of lights that will do a decent job doing location portraits and some fashion work.

All thoughts and advice welcome.
