Neither. DL DVDs are hit and miss as far as getting it to work with standalone DVD players. Either you try it on your player or google and see if someone else has done it for you.

Of course when you find one that works for your player you'll still have problems with other players.

Damn! And I was hoping to be able to take HD video from the 7D and dump it to a dual-layer DVD for viewing on DVD players.

it's doable, just don't expect universally playable.

And, Memorex DVD DL is universally considered as garbage, TY is good for single layer but no idea about DL. Verbatim is the one considered the best and "if this doesn't work nothing else will".

Just looked up the Verbatim DVD+R DL ... they are more than double the price of the others. Holy cow!

Amazon in the 20 pack is the best value I have found. Verbatim has always been one of the best in all types of media. Do some Googleing.

+1 on the Verbatim. Try to get "Made in Singapore" rather than India for even better reliability. I bought a 50-pack cake box of these at Sam's Club the last time I needed them so I could check the label.

Verbatim is the brand I've always heard recommended for DL media.

Videohelp.com maintains a database of user-submitted media reliability reports;you might find that to be a helpful reference: http://www.videohelp.com …arch=Search+or+List+Media (external link)

I use the Verbatim DVD+R DL as well. I know they are a bit more expensive than others, but I've NEVER had a coaster with one yet, so it's worth the premium cost for me.
