Boy, I didn't think it was "that" bad.

not that bad, but try some different compositions, seems like it was kind of eye level to the flowers. try getting lower or higher

Its not bad, but its not great. You've cropped the flowers on top. In this case they need some headroom. The colors dont seem quite right, perhaps its white balance, but there isnt much pop there. In taking a second look, it might be that you want to emphasize one or two flowers and let the rest serve as background. The current arrangement of the flowers just isnt very interesting.

One of the things I did to enhance this type of shot was to stop by a local fabric shop and pick up a 1yd square of non reflective black fabric. Drape it behind the flowers to give yourself a constant background. That way, your subject can take center stage without a distracting background - (clothespins are a cheap hanger). I think it was a total investment of six bucks including clothes pins.

Then, set your focus to one or two flowers in the forefront... let the others fall to DOF and the background. You'll be surprised at the results...

A good start.. keep working on it!

This shot is okay. It feels a little snapshotish. There is something in the lower left corner that cound have been removed. I agree with the earlier post that you could have used a backdrop to get rid of the BG and also the subject is cut off. That tends to be okay with a close up shot but does not really work with a full shot like this one. Nice looking flowers though, I hope you post some more shots of it.

I never, Not once claimed to read your post...

How about removing all but one of the multicolored tulips---focus on the remaining one --against a black background?
Just a thought.....
