Hello
My aunt who got me into photography and gave me my first camera equipment to start with. Her birthday is coming up and for her birthday is coming up, my uncle got her a trip to the Red Woods of Cali as a gift. I want to get her a gift for the trip photography wise.
Set up
Canon XT
Canon 28-300 L
She just got a backpack and some lens care stuff.
Budget 50-70 dollars
Any ideas?
Thank You

I would say give up the 28-300 and give something like a Tamron 17-50 2.8. I cant picture many times that I would want to be at the long end BUT you could even look at the 18-200!

+1 on the monopod. Extra CF cards are always handy as are spare batteries.

Compact flash cards are always good. Does she have a flash? If not, a YN 465 might be nice.

You want him to ask his aunt to sell her lens so he use the proceeds along with the $50-70 budget he has to buy her a new lens for her birthday? Strange advice, really...
I second gonzogolf's idea -- you can never have too many CF cards.

With the budget he listed above, strange advice.

I am repeating some of the above, memory, monopod (can double as a walking stick, and when collapsed a self defense weapon) Canon 50mm MKII (you can pick up one used from the sell forum here for around $80.00 most any time) That is $10.00 over your max to spend but heck she is your aunt you know:D.

YN 465 flash would be a great idea as well if she will use a hot shoe flash. A book on her favorite type of photography, (landscape, wildlife, portrait, etc) that includes tips and tricks.

Memory if she needs it, a new battery if she doesn't have a spare (or given the age of the XT a new one may be in order anyhow), a monopod wouldn't be bad, or a good comfortable strap. I have the 28-300 and it's not a featherweight although it's sometimes more convenient than the alternative (I should have taken it today instead of 2 bodies with 24-70 and 70-200; I was outside and the 7D loves high ISO).
