I recently met a "seasoned" photographer. In his 60's. Great guy. He's never switching to digital and he gave me a lesson on why. To make a long story short, I'm interested in picking up a FF film camera after his fascinating story.

If you were going to buy a FF film body that is compatible with EF lenses what would it be? Actually FD lenses might be an option too

Aren't all film bodies FF?

Care to share the story?

All film camera are full frame. That is to say, Full frame as it applies to digital is the sensor on a full frame camera is the same size as a 35mm negative. Only when they made smaller sensors with the resulting change in the ange of view was full frame invented. So when you speak of film cameras just say the size, in this case 35mm.

Canon and others produced APS-C film cameras back in the 1990's with approximately a 1.3 crop factor.

^----That doesn't make any sense...

APS-C is a SENSOR size. You can't have APS-C sized film.

Also, APS-C is 1.6 crop. APS-H is 1.3 crop....if there were such a thing for film.

True. But if the OP goes into a camera shop asking for a full frame film camera its still going to sound silly.

To the OP, if you are going to all the work of shooting and developing film, why not consider medium format cameras. They are still pretty cheap and there are benefits to a bigger negative.

Get an EOS 3. It is a great film camera that is fully compatible with all your current EOS equipment. (Most older film cameras are not ETTL compatible.)

This is wrong. APS-C, APS-H, and APS-P were film formats before they were referred to as sensor sizes. Ever hear of Kodak Advantix? It was an APS film format that came in C, H and P sizes.

I would think you would need a medium format SLR if you wanted a FULL frame film camera (Something like the Pentax 67 II). :)

Nope, using that logic he obviously needs a 24x36 view camera :)
