That's like $138 off the regular price from Adorama. My tripod needs are limited, but I'm wondering if I should jump on this.

it shows a reg price of $249. $50 off for a sale price is probably normal.

Adorama still shows the MT8270 with a regular price of $437.95.

http://www.adorama.com/GTMT8270.html (external link)

That's also what B&H is asking for it: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Classic_Carbon_Fiber.html (external link)

I grabbed the wrong link above, which is for a different model. $138 off is notable and seems too good to be true.

that's for a different model than you're asking about. a search on their site for the mt-8270 shows it at full price. it may have been a price mistake. their regular price seems a lot for what you get.

The one in the link above.

it may have been a price mistake. their regular price seems a lot for what you get.

It's what others seem to be asking FWIW.

nvm, i thought you meant adorama had it on sale. b&h also has different specs for the tripod. they also list it as "Giottos MT-8270 MT II." i'm not sure if it's a different model, but they have different max loads.

I don't see a link for that price. I see the ad you posted but do not see a store link to get to it. IO am trying to see if its a reputable store.

The lower price seems to be URL-dependent. When I click on Adorama's email, it visits

http://www.adorama.com/GTMT8270.html?emailprice=t (external link)

Which gives the lower price.

OK. That one worked. For a moment there, I was concerned you may be getting a link for some other site that could be a scam.

Looks like a good price. I do agree that the naming on the BHPhoto site says MKII which makes me think there are 2 versions.

I have the MT8170... It's a nice tripod. It's no Gitzo Explorer, but for the money it's not bad at all. I don't remember what I paid, but it was a lot less than the going rate seen above. I have the all CF version.

That's 30% off...I don't see why that's such a huge deal. Maybe they're clearing inventory for the next model? Either way, I see nothing weird about it.
