Here she is. Unfortunately, females don't sing (only males do). I took this this afternoon. Hope you like it!

Great shots! They bring back memories of a mis-spent childhood. Many happy hour playing with what we ignorantly called "locusts." I suppose they weren't as happy about it as we were!

Whoa! That's precisely what came out of my mouth when I scrolled down to that second image. I love the clarity of the image.

When I was young, the boys used to tease the girls by putting the cicada shells on the girls' shoulders so they could hear them scream. And scream, we did!

Leo, these are great shots! Are there cicadas in NYC? I guess you can see them at the local parks. I find the green ribbing on the insect's wings interesting. The ones I see are mostly brown. An obscure fact that I remember is that the cicada's larvae lives underground for 17 years before they sprout wings and venture above ground.

Keep those pics coming!

Thanks, BB! You know that it's hard to find any insects in the City (except for roaches:lol:   ), but there are plenty in Queens, Brooklyn and LI. I thought they could live underground for 7 years only, but then maybe I left out the "1" in the front:o , hehehe! Thanks again!
