I really like the pic, Mike. Was this taken in Montana? I was also wondering if this area had burned some time. The trees look like they've seen some flame. Regardless, the photo really conveys a peaceful yet mysterious mood. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this, Mike. How did you light the front of the cabin, with flash?

Thx! This was taken in Montana, specifically the western portion of Glacier National Park. There is a dirt road that takes you up into the wilderness called "Northfork Road", and this is the Northfork Valley. It has seen fire - lots of it. A stones throw from this photo is an amazing river called the Northfork of the Flathead. ITsa big river and the fishing is excellent. The area is very wild, and many biologists refer to it as the wildest valley in the lower 48 because of the high concentration of rare predators stacked in on each other such as wolverine, lynx, wolf, cougar, fisher, pine marten, bald eagle, black bear and grizzly bear. You can also find mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, moose, bighorn and mountain goats . The woods are very much alive there. Glacier is my favorite park because it offers so many things; it's not one dimensional at all.

You can see this cabin on the way to Kintla Lake. but make sure you have a spare tire and the means to change it. The road is really bad. It can be passed with a car in dry periods.

You might enjoy this video of a pine marten in the Glacier ecosystem complex:

and this wolverine:

Therse were all in Glacier or the immediate area, most on the west side. A very wild place.

Thanks! The cabin was a local adjustment of exposure in Lightroom 2.6. I wanted it to match the moon.

Really cool shot, I spent 6 years of my childhood in Montana( Big Hole National Battlefield), only been back once since but it is an amazing state.

I like that. It's very soothing.

- I discovered I scream the same way whether I'm about to be devoured by a great white shark or if a piece of seaweed touches my foot.
