This was my first attempt at long exposure and any type of skyline. Also here is a pic of city hall. I would appreciate critique on the photos! thanks.

I like 1 over 2, better detail in the lights and some of them aren't as hot. Also like the dock(?) being lit up in the first one. The framing is better with the drop off in building height to the left, although, the white streak on the left edge of the frame(#1) is somewhat distracting and could be cloned out.

Very nice, Michael. I travel to SD about once a week on business and have planned to bring my gear to shoot the lights reflected in the water on a long exposure just as you have done. Don't know that I can do any better, though.

Of the two skyline pics, the first one is my favorite. The colors on the water are more vibrant than in the second one. My only negative critique is that I find the pier and light in the lower left corner a bit distracting. That may just be me; others may see it as an interesting element.

The City Hall pic looks a bit slanted to me. The warm colors are really nice, though.

Got any tips on good but lesser known landscape photo opps in the SD area?

Thanks for the comments. That was my first attempt at landscape shots but I'm on the lookout for some spots. There are some excellent places down around the LaJolla Cove area with the pier, beach and cliffs. I'm also going to go across the Coronodo Bridge and shot downtown from that side in the near future.

Yeah! On the lil sidewalk next to the restaurant. I didn't see a closer spot than that. Do you know of anywhere else?

Closer, I don't think so but I believe you shot our skyline with the best angle showing the buildings, midway, and coronado bridge.
