Nice shot, Toney. The BB really lights them up.

Thanks again guys.

Dan, I've been toying around with it at 50mm using High Speed Sync on the 430EX. So I adjusted the shutter speed for exposure at the same time setting the flash to -1 EC. Seems to work fairly good with that.

Really nice shot and as mentioned, great balance using it more as fill. I've been thinking about buying a BB, what do you find is the effective range using it?

Thanks

Thanks for the compliment

Mind you I've only used mine for one morning of shooting so haven't fully tested it to the limits just yet. This photo was taken about 18' from where I was setup. I had the BB manually set to 50mm on the flash with -1 stop EC set. The camera was set to Partial Metering and used the shutter speed to adjust exposure. The BB gives a better overall flash exposure rather than using the bare flash.

Wow, that's a fantastic shot. At the distance you shot the abouve, how much more does the BB focus the beam compared to having the 430 zoomed to 100MM?

I'd be guessing to answer that but do know that I struggled a few weeks back using just the 430EX by itself. Never could I get the flash coverage accurate enough. It was either under or overexposed and always looked, well flashed. I am using my BB and flash on the camera, no extension arm.

Here's an excellent article from naturescapes.net on the use: Getting the Most From Your “Better Beamer” Flash X-tender™ (external link)
