First shoot this spring, kind of a bit shakey, but I feel like the results came out pretty decent considering I had a couple hours notice and no real idea of what "deployment" pictures would be. The lighting is a bit off (my ST-E2 died again). Anyways without further excuses here are the shots I liked.

Thanks guys!

I know not the transport forum but here is a picture of just the car, very sweet ride. No lighting used here.

A bunch of equipment with Canon on it and some stuff with Sigma on it. The desire to capture a moment in time and share it with you! :)

In #8, she looks really uncomfortable. In #7, I find it odd that she's engaged with the camera instead of with him.

#6 is a great concept. I wonder about the emotional impact if he were to get hurt, though. To me, the picture has a sense of loss in it. Would that be positive or negative to her? Don't know.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?

Thanks guys.

Geoff, yeah number 8 has a bit of awkwardness to the pose I agree. The couple was finding it a bit hard to get comfortable on the hood. I have one with a much better pose which I can post aswell, but I am not as happy with the angle and general feel of the image. I really liked that I got the moon and everything in number 8 and the couple really loved the shot to.

Number 7 I actually thought her being kissed on the cheek made it a bit more natural that she was looking my way. However, I would agree that her so clearly looking at the camera isn't natural at all. On the other hand I think it is an interesting balance to find what is artistically correct and a good portrait for the client.

On number 6 are you saying it doesn't convey the correct emotion? or just saying the image makes you kind of put yourself in their shoes? no pun intended.

Thanks on the silhouette shot Freddy! I was actually thinking it wouldn't come out the greatest when I first took it, but I was really pleasantly surprised with it once in lightroom.

BTW here is the image I mentioned with the more natural pose. Let me know what you think.

Just a couple of comments:

  • As a pre-deployment set, this rocks!!
  • Have to agreee with Bronx - Get off the car!! :)
  • I think your soldier (and OPSEC) would be better served if you either removed the boot/shoes shot or cloned out the soldier's last name. You may not be one, but OpLove photographers are required by DoD to observe this requirement.

Awesome set! The only issue I had was the pics where she was looking at the camera, but I see you got that covered. It's much better when she looks at him. Much more natural.
Great work!
