i have a s30 and a computer running on windows xp. i've installed and tested all the possible drivers but it still detects the camera as not found or not connected. the usb cable, and the usb slot works and everythign works because when i plug it in with camera. the computer auto detects and makes a s30 icon on my computer for me but wen i press get pictures, it freezes on reading pictures or it shows not found.

i am suspecting sp1 is the cause of this problem
because 2 of my other computesr work fine and
the ydo not have sp1 installed
any suggestions?

ima getting the exact problem. instead i get a usb malfunction. when it pops up to choose the program to use. i get default camera and no programs to choose from. also it shows not ready or in use when i press get picture using scanner and camera.

i've tested if it was sp1 and itz not. i don't think itz usb.

what i am suspecting is when u first time plug in a device, it auto installs but it sometimes ask for extra drivers not found so u put in cd. but what i did was cancel or ignore it. so it didn't install correctly. and that thing only pops up once. if anyone know how please put some comment please

Do you have a usb scanner connected? If so, try disconnecting it, or disable it in Device Manager.
SOme usb scanners conflict with the wia drivers because they both use usbscan.sys.
Canon informed me of this, and disabling my scanner did work.

I have the exact same error with a powershot A10. Installed the camera and software on an XP system and have been using it fine for several months. I put sp1 on about a week ago and we first tried to import photos from the camera yesterday and got the same errors described above. When I plug the camera on I get 2 pop-up windows asking which program to use and the list is empty. I show properties of the camera in device manager and it thinks its connected and working properly but when I use xp to try to transfer photos it says there is no camera connected. I am going to check the level of my driver and try the wia 3.9.0 &or 3.9.1 driver and see if that helps. Any info on correcting this would be great.
