I guess if you have the charger and it can charge the original batteries then it must be able to.

Phottix advertising sometimes doesn't match their product function eg. They advertised that their Hector remote could control AF on their website, but when I got one it couldn't, so I emailed them and they admitted it can't.

Hmm. Weird if they do not know their own products' specs.

I suspect that at least some of the time they're aggregating products; the chargers they bundle with their batteries may come from a number of sources, not all of which will function exactly the same. So they may err on the side of caution. For that matter, if they were burnt badly enough on the Hector remote product claim they may be reluctant to claim anything beyond the basics ("Yes, it'll charge the battery we sell it with. No it won't charge any other battery.")

Yeah. I've got to think about that one some more. :)

so flash and omni bounce since that takes up almost no more room than the flash when mounted

...except that Omnibounce is useless, and is very wasteful of light and a hideous consumer of battery power, when there is no ceiling and walls to serve as a large virtual source of bounced light. It should be removed in those situations.

Yeah. It could only work when you want to bounce the flash?

Right, it works to send light to ceiling and walls for bounce. No ceiling or walls, it wastes light scattered in directions not toward the subject. No larger than the flash's own lens, it has little benefit for light going straight forward.

Maybe I should invest in a very small foldable hot shoe softbox.

Mini softboxes at least 5"x7" will have benefit over the smallish flash lens...35 sq.in. vs about 3 sq.in. area, but benefit falls off with distance!

Thats true, but I'll probably mostly use it pretty close as OCF with someone holding it just outside the frame, using the cameras wireless commander feature.

people hate on the lightsphere but I love it, and the photojournalism one that folds up would work well for you.
