They look good. It does look like you used some noise reduction software on them as the grass is all washed out - but that is something you or I would notice... most people wouldn't catch it. Or I could be wrong.... enjoy the new lens!

Yah I had to, shooting at a ISO 1600 made them quite noisy but I can't figure out how to get them sharp enough without it, plus lighting is an issue. These were all handheld to and being a newb I have a ton of shake.

Great shots. Night games are tough! as I found out this season. I got a few shots but still haven't figured the proper white balance adjustment....

Keep it up!

Those are nice. Looks like that lens is doing the trick for you. Keep at it.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

The shots do look good. Were they shot at 2.8 and I'm curious if you remember the shutter speed. Judging by the slight blur of the pitcher's hand I'm going to guess you were in the 1/125 range.

Frank.

I like the expressions in the pitchers' faces. Some other interesting shots could be after the throw, or the batter about to hit or just hitting the ball. Not too sure if you tried those though or if the conditions were adequate enough (fast enough shutter).

Night games are a real challenge. I don't shoot at night anymore but I sell my shots so I go for the highest quality possible. I would pull back on the noise reduction a bit as they look a little too plasticky for my taste. Most people are used to seeing graininess in sports images so some graininess is very acceptable.
