Still trying to get these better. This is my 3rd go around of portraits from this spot and so far think that these ones turned out the best yet. I've got one more go at it this week shooting evening style portaits and so I'm looking for any feedback or ideas on how I could improve. Forgot my umbrella in the van so I ended up using a bare bulb for a a fill behind me and slightly to the left. The main light was a subpak 383 through a photoflex umbrella camera right pointing down at about 45 degrees.

I also have been using my canon 430 speedlight on top of my camera in the hotshoe. This I just point straight up in the air, and it doesn't really point at the person. I just use it for the infrared focusing. The first time I got up there I was like, oh no I forgot that my camera isn't going to focus in the dark, haha.
