I'm looking to purchase a tripod, and have been looking at $100 or under price ranges.
I've never had a tripod before, and have no idea what to look for.

I did some research about the tripod rotating ball head, and I'd like to have that as well (if I'm not asking for too much for the price). I'm 6'3" tall, and the main uses will be home photo shoots and travel, so I'd prefer it to extend way up high, and at the same time be somewhat portable and come with the carrying case.

Also I'm not sure if they come with rotating ball heads, or does it need to be purchased separately? Finally, what are the good rotating ball heads that are also on a budget?

I'm saving money for the 85mm f/1.8, so I don't want the tripod to put me back somewhat.

Look at the Manfrotto 190XB at B&H Photo website. Should come in some packages with Manfrotto ball heads for not much more than you want to spend. Nice tripod for the money.

The below model is $146 after rebate. Not a ball head, but perhaps you don't want a ball head. Not sure since you didn't state. In either case, this is a solid tripod for the money. Had these legs myself before getting my current tripod. I wanted to do some macro shots so I got the 055xprob. The "xprob" part means the column swings out parallel with the ground. If that is of interest, look at the 190xprob model. I see it on B&H with ball head for $200.

The 190 is a great tripod, and it's really good quality. The danger with going for a really cheap one is that you will end up wasting the money, as sooner or later you'll replace it (probably sooner).

It's definately worth spending a little more now and getting the right one.

I have long felt that a tripod is a forever purchase, so get the best you can afford even if it means saving up for it. You want something that will easily support your 7D and the 70-200 you currently have and no doubt you may add bigger lenses in the future. Visit a good store and try out a few. If you go on the cheap, think monopod where temporary steadiness is a factor. My 2 cents.
cheers,
John

A benro is nice, but I don't know if they got one under $100

I got the a198 n6 . It's so versatile, but quite heavy.

Just by looking at your gear list you are short changing yourself trying rely on a cheap tripod. Most decent ball heads will cost well over $100. Save up and speed the money of a setup that will last you years to come.

So is the Manfrotto 190XDB Tripod w/head a good one for $150? Or will I be better off with a ball-head? Also, are those interchangeable, in case I decide up upgrade the head in the future, is the mount the same?
