Bag decision

Crumpler 7 million dollar home v.Thinktank retrospective 20.

Which is better? They are both about same size and price but which one do you all prefer?

At the time I paid $25 plus $28 for freight. I knew the freight was overpriced but the bag was underpriced so I got it anyway.

I can't say enough good about it. It holds everything I have. My camera, 8 lenses, including the big 100-400, 430ex, grip, all my accessories .. spare bats, spare flash, cleaning stuff, filters, etc. and I even carry the books that came with the camera and flash unit. It's all padded between compartments, readjustable with velcro if needed. Comes with shoulder straps, tripod straps, and even a tummy strap. Compartments on the outside also.

If anything it's too big ... but personally I'd rather have all my gear in one bag than strewn about the house...as it was pre-bag.

I see his price is now $60 plus $25 .... still worth it I think.

If I go to a photo store, like a bag and buy it, I almost always have been disappointed very quickly.

I need to take all the gear I want to carry to the store, and load the bag as if it's my own. Then I need to leave it on my shoulder, or on my back for a little while. When I do that I'm much happier with the bag that I buy.

I think thats what I am going to do. I think they look awesome and I've always heard good things about ThinkTank.

Plus, judging from your sig, youre in the Army. I like the way you Army guys think. I am in Army ROTC right now, soon to be commissioned.

I think I can wait an extra month or so

I've become a Think Tank convert since picking up the UD40 last month and some Skin components yesterday. Helen Atkinson of Snapperstuff who was at a Jeff Ascough seminar was exhibiting the Retrospective range. Very nice they were too. A little more casual in style for my own needs but I'd place my vote for Think Tank in any survey or enquiry. I'm hoping to get a UD20 at some point too.

Wait for the Retrospective as you won't be disappointed.

I inquired about the bags because I really need a shoulder bag and don't know how much longer I can wait until I get one. I asked when they were going to be released and if there would be any chance of getting one soon. Dan responded:

the thinktank looks very nice but I think the 7mdh is bigger. I have the 7mdh and love it. It doesn't stick out as a camera bag and is stylish enough to carry out anywhere. It's also very well built. I can fit my gripped 7d, 24-70L, 70-200mm 2.8L, tokina 11-16mm, my flash, and other small accessories into it.

I just realized something and need to note it in this thread.

The specs I gave for the dimensions of the 7MDH is EXTERIOR and the dimensions for the Retrospective bags I gave is INTERIOR. I edited my original post.

I didn't find the interior specs for the 7MDH. Their site lists exterior, according to BHphoto.com

So the Retro 20 looks like it has more room than the 7MDH, imo. The Retro's padding also doesn't appear as thick as the 7MDH, allowing more room inside

According to their Twitter it is confirmed that these will be out Mid-May in the US.
