I took these shots last summer at a nearby pond which is part of a nature preservation area. I am hoping that the heron or herons return again this year. I don't know if they nest and breeding in the Northern NJ area. I suspect they take care of that business in places like VA and FL then spread out further north during the summer season. The picture when the bird darts into the water looks like a transparent greyish protective film covers the heron's eyes. This same bird had yellow/black eyes but in this picture it looks like they are grey. Anyone else ever noticed this on the GBH?
I was using the 5D2 with 300mm f2.8 and the 1.4X TC on a Manfrotto monopod.
