Good stuff - looks like we've shot the same pier, only 3 days short of one year apart. You shot yours at high tide, mine at very low tide!

You're partially correct. The pier is built differently in sections, perhaps from repairs over the years. His shot is taken at the high-tide portion, mine was taken at a low-tide portion with different construction.

It's no big deal if I am proved to be incorrect by the OP, but I was just there last week and I had plenty of time to familiarize myself with the structure.

We both shot the same exact pier. If you look very closely at mine, you can see where the "cross members" become horizontally straight instead of an x.
Yes, mine was shot at very high tide, I'm actually standing near the very start of the pier.
Ken, shot his at very low tide where the cross members are horizontal.
Ken's shot has been removed but I did mangage to find it on his flickr...HERE.
