Well, they both accept the N3. Only difference I can see in the ports on them is that the 7D uses a tweaked USB port for both USB and composite video output, but in that case you'd expect the 7D to be the one with a different model number. Unless the 5D2 model has IR triggering of the camera either instead of or in addition to the N3 connector. Definitely a puzzlement. Jon
