Reception Songs

Phota - as Bryan points out, very likely the DJ will do a pretty good at this since that's his task.

He knows his job, what's current, what works, and will be able to size up the crowd and it's mood pretty fast. I wouldn't be too concerned with coming up with suggestions for him - things will happen on their own and it's just a matter for you to be alert to those opportunities and capture them.

The cha cha slide was great to shoot during my video days... lots of hips swinging and feet shuffling.

For photos, my theory is if the dance floor is packed it must be a good song. I'm getting too old and just don't know any other way to tell.

The DJ played this at the wedding I attended this past Saturday and it definately got people up and moving!

I've never, EVER, been to a wedding where "you're the one I want" from Grease WASN'T played.

It gets people a bit goofy, even the seasoned citizens

Yes I know, the DJ should be responsible for making the magic happen. I'm not trying to cover for him/her.

I've actually found that a couple of my clients are letting their guests request music, which I think is pretty cool. If I could be of any service in suggesting some music that gets people moving and makes for really good pictures it may just be helpful for them.

I did a wedding in Oct where they played Beyonce's - 'Single Ladies' and everyone got up (while well buzzed) and tried to to the dance from the video!!! It was hillarious and SO fun to shoot and even better working on them afterwards!!!!!
This wedding party was the funnest ever!!!!!
The also had did that song from Night at the Roxbury and the groom & a friend did the Butabi brothers dances that are in the movie!!! IT was the BEST to watch that!!!!!!!
I don't know who sings it but "save a horse, Ride a cowboy" gets some good shots.
"Fung Foo Fighting" is a good song too to get some active shots!!
"Footloose"
"Thriller" - I'm surprised no one has said that one yet!

The song that talks about a girl getting tired of waiting to be asked, it says "give me no lines and keep your hands to yourself".

Ahhh - that's Georgia Satellites... It's kinda hard to dance to, don't you think?? I think that's one of those songs you 'dance' in your seat to!
