Here's a few shots from a couple of our latest Mustang outings. The wife and I like to go out in search of the Mustangs in Utah's West Desert.

More can be seen here in our little gallery. http://home.comcast.net …r2/Mustangs/Mustangs.html (external link)

Excellent shots, really like 2, 5 & 8. Have you tried to convert them to B&W or sepia? I bet number 5 would look really nice converted.

I had to google 3:10 Yuma, guess I'm not much of a movie buff. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for looking Fred. I just may be getting in touch with my framer. Last time I talked to him he said he had a couple frames with my name on them.

Glad you like them. I haven't tried any other conversions. Sounds like some good fun.

fabulous photos, are the plants really that pale or is it some kind of PP? Looks like those stallions have been blueing alot, so many wounds on the grey/white.

Yeah these pictures are amazing! These are wild animals? Is it hard to track them down when you are trying to get photo's, or are they easy to find?
Awesome shots tho!

Thank you. The plant life in the west desert is not bright or vibrant. My PP consists of white balance, exposure, black point, white point, and sharpening. I don't apply any saturation or take any out. I aim for natural/true to life pictures, but I'm no expert and sometimes screw up badly. I do have a color managed work flow and my prints do look like the monitor and do look very nice.

Thanks Ernie. Yes, wild animals. Sometimes they can be elusive, but I would say we see them on 70% of the trips we make out there. They do have some favorite places and like other animals they have patterns and routines and as we learn those we increase our chances of seeing them and making some nice photos.

Tom I am traveliong through the area in July. Is it possible to find them at that time or does the heat drive them up into the hills?

Hi Keith. Yes, it is possible to find them in July. I've found them a couple times in July.

They may head to the hills to escape the midday heat, but they have watering holes/springs in the valleys.

I find that at that time of year it is just too HOT for me out there. I will make a trip or two during summer, but summer usually has me looking to get to about 9 or 10,000 ft to escape the heat.

Tom,
So what (where) do I look on a map to get to the area I need? I will be heading that way from the Pacific NW.
