My only hope is that you come away with something different. If you use my ideas and images as a springboard for your own concepts, I'm flattered and thankful. Just don't try to replicate what I've done, is all.

Nice technique...

If plucks gets exactly what you got from dropping food coloring in water, call Ripley!! ;)

Given enough time, everything is repeatable! lol, in all seriousness though, I know no one can ever simulate the exact shapes I have here, but this was more or less my concept. I found the materials, executed it as I saw fit, etc. I know when I see someone else's work, if they have an incredibly clever concept or trick, I'll admire it, but I won't adopt it. It may leak into my subconscious and therefore influence my work, no arguing that. But I never make a conscious decision to emulate someone else's style.

Your photo is very cool!!

Emulating someone's style is a great way to learn techniques and understand photography better. Obviously no plagiarism but look at the photos of water drops on this forum as an example, everyone is experimenting with everyone else's tricks...and kind enough to share their setup and results. As you can see from my post count I'm pretty new to canon dslr so I can use all the help I can get!

BTW, I invented taking pictures of dogs, so everyone - no more dog pictures eh!!

Then I'm happy! As I said, springboarding off someone else's work is awesome, I do that a lot, even though it doesn't often come across in the image because I twist it that much. Interested to see what you do, so pm me with a link to the thread if you don't post it in this one.

Get real on the 'my concept' issue. This technique has been done a million times before you and will be done many more times. Its food coloring into a water tank, pure and simple.

Right I'm off to take a photo of a bird and if anyone ever tries to copy me they're for it.....!!

I wanted to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all the French beaches I'd never see. I wanted to breathe smoke.

Nothing good lol

Ha!! I did this same experiement for my photog class two years ago! Glad to see people are still adding to the concept and coming up with new ideas/techniques. I was turned on to this concept by my art prof........wonder who turned him on to it.

Nice job and great execution!

Tat is going forward in reverse!:)

Did I ever say or insinuate that I was? No. I stated that I never intentionally borrow or adopt someone else's ideas. Maybe you should read before you comment. It's also very irritating that people like you don't pay attention to when I write: "Then I'm happy! As I said, springboarding off someone else's work is awesome, I do that a lot..."
