I don't think you get the point I'm driving at. How would you like it if you shared a piece that you put a lot of time into coming up with a concept, a theme, and the methods of achieving those goals, and someone said "Yea, I think I'll do that too"? That in no way kills your vibe?

Welcome to fashion design where copyrights, trademarks, and patents are completely meaningless. If you introduce a hot new item to the marketplace you have 3-6 months before it hits other stores for 1/2 off or more and there is nada that anyone can do to stop it except to stay ahead of the curve and get the big bucks for your "brand" while you can.

Art is imitation. No one starts out like Eddie VanHalen they start out like everyone else, on the bottom rung of capability. Much of the pop music business is based on a constant churning of the same 7 progressions over and over and over. No one can license the progressions and even though there have been a few lawsuits over infringement (using my existing hit theme to make your theme sell better) they are rare.

I seriously doubt anyone could or would want to exactly replicate what you are doing here. I think a better strategy is to continue pursuing your art rather than take on a world that will continue to imitate.

Okay, genius. We agree to disagree on that point ;)

It's all good. Part of art is how if effects one person but not another.

Love the effect, hate the border

I feel you. The border is actually compiled of where the liquid enters the water and builds up into a layer atop the base of water. I took that piece from four different images and put em together. Doesn't work for everyone, I suppose.

:) heard that quote the other day for the first time. Love your photo by the way. Do you have any setup shots? Did you shoot it at this orientation or is it sideways?

I've been inspired time and again in the short time I've been on this site. Would love to learn your methods.

Thanks. It is rotated 90 degrees. I shoot them by dripping into the tank from above and then shooting from the side.

Nice capture. This technique has been around for quite a while and always produces fun results. Obviously, these types of photo's are much like snowflakes, in that no two are ever the "Exact" same, so I wouldn't lose any sleep worrying about replicates ;)

Greg Petliski

Do you think you can find an original melody? Or a unique image of the Eiffel Tower that hasn't already seen daylight? Not impossible but the odds of creating a completely original piece are inversely proportional to the amount of work already existing and being defined as we speak.
