Goldmember etc.?

I am rather new to POTN. So what's up with Goldmember etc.?

You moved from being a Junior Member to a Member after 30 posts. You'll reach Senior Member at 1000 posts, Gold Member at 2000 posts and Cream of the Crop at 5000 posts. Always assuming you refrain from saying something sufficiently notable as to induce the Title Fairy to confer a custom title on you. Most beneficiaries of the TF's largesse will assure you, they'd really rather not have been so honored.

It takes a while to get up to the thousands. We get chatty sometimes, though. Give good advice and be friendly and the time just flies by. It's a good thing we don't have logs on how many hours a day we're on here. Otherwise, we'd all be arrested for wasting so much time.

Gold member is good, along with member and senior member.

You might find yourself getting other monikers, like Dis-member or Duh-member, or some other catchy title.

I noticed a few people have a modified member status. Is there a certain level in which you can modify your own member status?

Only a certain level of notoriety.

The Title Fairy bestows special user titles, but only if you earn one.

Oh the TF.... it bestows users with given titles of embarrassment.

Are you kidding? Once the TF sees us opening up, it gives her even more ammunition for creative little titles. She's a crafty one, you know.

Naw, I'm sure that the TF never comes to Forum Talk. She spends all of her time in the Lounge. We can say whatever we want in here without it getting noticed.

You never know where the TF will crop up; people have been hit in virtually every forum on here. It's just that more of you get careless in the Lounge, or the threads you get careless in end up in the lounge due to topic drift. Ask LightRules or Perry Ge, for example . . .
