Here's mine.
QUOTED IMAGE

V1:
-Keep the red circle + P
-Change the aperture blade "o" to regular "o" either in same size of small size, both is fine...
-Replace the camera lens "o" to a regular "o"

V2:
-regular "P"
-regular smaller "o"
-keep lens "O"

V3:
similar as V2 but using aperture blades and NOT the circle "P" or the lens "O"

you're mixing 3 elements in your logo... the red circle P, the aperture blades, then the camera lens... they are competing against each other... and all 3 elements are strong... circle P being the strongest due to color.

did you intentionally use different font on the circle "P"?

also, "P H O T O G R A P H Y" width should match "PAKo WORKS" width and the copyright symbol on the upper right of "Y" of photography...

if you're going to keep the copyright symbol in the same position, then make it the same size as the text on PHOTOGRAPHYC and put a circle around the C.

Although its not fun to have your ideas trashed (lol) I do appreciate the feedback from unbiased (and experienced) eyes. I tried to simplify but still keep the retro font:

Heres mine...

the artistic part has nice balance and flow...

the webpage stands out like a stick in the mud...

perhaps try different font or color?
it seems too packed in comparison to the loose and flowy nature of your logo...

also, put some space between the purple letters and the grey butterfly in areas where they intersect...
perhaps in illustrator or corel, add outline behind fill so it loos separated.

when printing, if the print does not register well, these kind of overlaps will come out messy.
also, by separating and making sure grey and purple does not "touch", your "Dee" will be more visible and yet not affect the overall image of your logo.

you also need better kerning(?) on your "Dee Marie Photography" so it flows better... corel/adobe does this... but to really get a very nice and flowy feel to it, you can convert text to curves and node edit each intersection of the letters...

i only say this because immedialy, i can see that this was some font placed via some graphics programs... better kerning between the letters will give it a much nicer/custom look.

Steve, you're getting there! It's looking much more simple.

I would only say to drop the stroke border on the text. It will cause issues with scaling the size of your logo and it adds visual complexity to the type that it doesn't need. You might be able to get away with stroked text if the font was simple. In this case, it's a complicated font, so it needs to stand on it's own, if you're going to use it.

If it doesn't "punch" enough for you without the stroke, use a darker color on the type.

Although your logo is flashy and detailed, it might be detracting from the photos it is being put on. Don't make your logo overshadow your photos and your work products! :D

sorry dugcross, way to much going on for my liking, i could see something really simple being made out of that. Looks like alot of clip art slapped together. You have a cool name with CROSS, i can already see alot of cool , simple logos that could be done. One thing i tell my designers is that if you are doing a logo and it doesnt work at 1 inch being the largest dimension you need to rethink it.

That's not a problem because this is a logo not a watermark. I don't watermark any of my photos. It's a waste of time. Personally if I wanted to I could take a watermark off of any photo, but I would never do that. Even though I don't use them, I do respect the people who do. Plus like I mentioned I'm a graphic designer so this leans more towards that.

I purposely designed this logo to look this way. If you call it busy, fine but I look at it as intricate. I agree logos should not be too busy but I really don't care on this one. There is NO clip art on this, this is all art that I created myself which is part of the look of the logo itself since I'm a graphic designer this show's some of what I can do. For me it's not just a logo but an example of my work. This logo does work at 1 inch so this is no rethinking to be done. This is one of the great things about being a graphic designer myself, I designed the logo the way I like it not the way others like it. It looks great on the back of black t-shirts and looks great on the back window of my truck. For the people who don't like it, well those are the not clients I'm trying to attract. Not trying to sound harsh but this is how I feel on this and there is no one out there that can change that.

You have to go with what 'you' like. I'm sure Pepsi didn't ask Coca-Cola for their opinion when they created the Pepsi logo. Pepsi went with what was best for them. If it works, go with it. If it can demonstrate your skills, even better. IMO
