So i recently had my hot shoe broken off of my 285 HV and ordered a replacement metal one. Installed the new one with no issues, following this diagram
http://photo.net …t-techniques-forum/00Po9t (external link)

However now i cant seem to get my elinchrom Skyport to fire it, i bought the right cable to hook up the system.
Current order is :
Skyport -> Adapter -> cord with PC port -> Vivitar

Now i need the adapter because the cord with the PC port is too small, could this possibly be my issue?
The flash fires when i pull the cord out of the skyport no problem, it fires when i hit the test button, and it wil fire if i hook the cord with the PC port up directly to the Skyport transmitter.
I have 3 recievers and i tried all of them and none worked so im not sure where my problem is and hopefully someone here can help.
I can get photos of the plugs and wires if needed.

If this is a Vivitar 285HV produced in the last three years, the replacement flash foot has nothing to do with the incompatibility with the Skyport receiver.

The new version of the 285HV (new in the last three years) will not fire using a Skyport and a pedestrian hardwired sync cord.

Enjoy! Lon

Not sure i understand what you mean by pedestrian hardwires sync cord? It worked perfect before with the 285 HV specific cable i got from Flash zebra before. But the new foot doesnt have the same connection, it takes a PC connection.

Try reversing the polarity of the wires to the hot shoe you installed.
