This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #278".

This game will end on Sunday Night April 25nd at 9:00pm EST. Have fun!

---------------
Let's try something a little different this time around - Using the image below as a background, let see what interesting thing or things you can add to the scene to really make it your own ;). Winner will be selected based on your creativity. See my post below for 1 example.

Duplicated the layer, inserted a lens flare on the bottom layer, and adjusted the opacity.
Highlighted the blue channel only to bring out the dark trees, selected "color range" to select the trees, then added a hue/saturation layer to put a little bit of green on them.
Adjusted the contrast of the sky.
Cloned out the bottom right corner.
Cropped the image.

Let me try to clarify that Before & After #277 images should have the sky image somehow in the background. Below is a 2 minute workup to give you an idea of the kind of mash-up images that will win this Before & After.

The mash-up below is a Chihuly glass sculpture and the fountain in Central Park NY.

Some other ideas would to have a car with wings in the scene, use your imagination.

that was a great challenge... :)

I added the steeple from another pic from my bridge using CS3, in that layer I replaced the color in the tree to make it resemble the other tree on the left.
I added a layer and on that layer I used the polygonal tool to make my sunbeams. I used the linear gradient tool, foreground to transparent and filled in the beams. Then I gaussian blurred them and played with the opacity until I was satisfied. I was sure to erase the beam from the angles on the church steeple that would not have sunbeam on them.
Using Kabota Dashboard V2 - I used the select a toner and went monochrome, playing in the brown tones until I was happy with what I saw.
merge and save. :)

You are not realy supposed to guide us;) This is a personal interpretation, no? I have no use for copy and pasting things into photos really.

I put in a door image and overlayed and then I put in wings and overlayed it also... I duplicated background and desaturated and then overlay and invert and some guassian blur, gradient map, soft light, dodge, burn!!! thanks for letting me play:)

Can't quite remember how I got here.
Opened in ACR and levels adjustments. Selected sky portion and duplicated, put in multiply mode. LAB colour boost.
Opened two free textures from Mayang's free textures and blended with original. One in hard light mode (metalwork) and one in overlay mode and reduced opacities to blend. Flattened and added stroke.
