Only other thing i could maybe advise that may help you find out is contact Dr.Tony Phillips at www.spaceweather.com (external link) . Scroll to the very bottom for a direct link to him . Ask him if there has been any reports of missellanious satellite parts falling to earth . There is a place that keeps track of all space junk and satellites and if anything fell they would probably know about it cause there is many observatories with cameras that detect WF images of objects dropping out of space . What comes to mind mainly is those two satellites that collided back a yr or so ago and caused an extreme amount of debris in space that they tracked for security reasons for the spaceshuttles path way .

Thanks. I sent him an email. I really don't think anything will come of it, but I'll give a few tries.

Thank you. bw!

We didn't have any weather.

Here's the new twist: There is paper in the device (if it's paper) and it is clearly designed to be some kind of heat shiel...probably asbestos or something.

Thank you. bw!

Scale of the item? I might have missed if you mentioned that. A few cm? A few inches? A few feet?

It's a little wider than a quarter and about 2cm thick, I guess. Not sure.

Thank you. bw!

I agree on space junk. I work for NASA and nothing manufactured for space flight will have iron. All of the hardware we manufacture is made of alumimum, titainum, ect. Could be some silicone based rubber compounds so that could be what you are describing as rubbery.
I am suprised that no smell exist. Cool find!!!!.

Looking at your map and the pools and nice landscaping, how about a piece of a ride-on mower the lawn services use to cut grass? From the initial pic, it looked to me like a muffler assembly from a Yazoo lawnmower that burned off, then was mowed over.

This would explain the shape AND the burnt grass.

That's ridiculous. Aliens don't use ride-on mowers to cut grass, they use lightsabres.

I will post a link on Ice In Space (external link) and see if any of our Aussie amateur astronomers cam come up with a possible solution.

It looks like some sort of wheel - but of course it need not necessarily be for wheeling, many machine parts have this configuration.
