You did a great job on that last edit!... next time get down and dirty on the floor!...a lower angle would have been much better!

Honestly I'd go the opposite direction with the processing. the shot is totally adorable, and I like your SOOC version better than the edited one. How about lightening up the mood and making it more soft and dreamy, rather than dark and moody...?

This is exactly what I thought when I saw the first two images, and I really like your last edit. Very nice!

Kristy, Thank you! I tried the dream look did it work here? I really appreciate you taking time to help. I got the basket from Hobby Lobby when they were having I think a 50% off sale, my wife saw it and thought it would be great as a prop.

HelenD, I did as you and others said a tighter crop as well as a straightening of the canvas. Thank you for the sharp eye!!

My new attempt:

I do like this much better.. so much softer for a baby. :) Nice job on the re edit. I may see a bit of color cast in the skin tones from the background color maybe... or my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Do you mind if I have a play with your original?

Thanks for the authorization to play with the image.

Really , it just looked a little cool to me.. I think your original was warmer than your last edited version, so something happened in your conversion.

I added a warming filter, and a curves adjustment, a little brightness/contrast..... (and I made the wall a solid color, sorry.. i thought the pattern was attracting attention)

Let me know what you think...

Your original first followed by the edit.

kristy i like everything you did except editing the wall, i thought the wall pattern added character to the shot, along with those beautiful floors, it hardly distracted my eye from the gorgeous subject, i say keep the warmth, but go back to the original wall.

Thank you everyone for the tremendous help with this image. Kristy the edit is great, with the removal of the patterned BG I like the solid and before setting up the shot I battled with either solid or pattern because of everything that this shot has going on. At the end I went with the pattern but when I have a paying client they are more than welcome to choose between the two. I must work on the mood in my editing!!
Thank you so much Kristy!! You have been a tremendous help. I am planning a shoot with moss and some found wood hopefully it will turn out much better this time.

Thank you.... :) I hesitated about changing the wall.. but to my eye, it was busy and drew my attention away from the sweet baby. The floor, the basket, and the little blanket are such nice elements to get lost in.. I felt like the wall was just too much. That's the beauty of being individuals I guess. I'm glad you like the original wall because that was the way the artist intended the shot... I was being a control freak by painting it over.. haha.. anyway. ;)

Thank you.. I'm so happy to hear that something I said or did was helpful to you. The wall can go either way depending on your personal vision. I'm a pretty simple person, so for me... plain is better. lol..

I look forward to your next shots. :)
