All canon lens hoods have felt on the inside

bought one used from FM and the hood model is correct but doesn't have felt? It's a 2006 copy. Is this a knockoff hood?

Your 70-200mm f/2.8L should have came with a Canon ET-83 II lens hood. As said before, all Canon hoods come with felt inside them. I'm pretty sure even the knock-off hoods come with felt in them too. Maybe the one you bought is an original hood, but the person took the felt out for some reason? Take a picture of the hood and post it up here.
