Certainly a good result from a not-so-optimal lighting environment.

That being said, I do think the shadows look a little too blocked up. I'd like to see a little more detail in those areas. Nice job overall though.

Sean, I was going through your blog post about this ASM S2k and had a question if you don't mind me asking. When you took 2 shots of the car, was one shot with the ambient lighting and the other with only your lightstand as the only light source (with the building's lights dimmed purposely)?

I understand that you layered multiple exposures of the shot together with blends, but I still don't understand if you darkened the room and only used your lightstand to get the proper exposures of the car itself. I know this is a handful of words, but I don't know how else to ask. Thanks.

haha no I gotcha. The car was initially a bunch of shots, say 5-10 depending on the image, of lit frames layered together as usual and put into a group. I then took ambient brackets and layered them in on top of the strobe lit group using different blending modes, mostly screen, to bring up the darker areas and to add the highlights and reflections that would naturally be on the car (i.e. the ceiling lamps reflecting on the hood). Hope that helps :)

I find it ironic that Bridgestone is plastered all over the car but the shop is full of Yokohama Advans :)

Neat shots, and a fantastic shop.
