Ellison vs. Belton here in Central Texas. This was my 2nd or 3rd sporting event with my 7D and my first with my 300mm and my first baseball game. Lots to learn, but it was fun and I am happy with a couple of these.

Fantastic work. Especially for your first game of baseball. I would be very happy with any of these images. Well done.

It may have been your first baseball shoot. You don't have a huge learning curve those shots were sure enough to put you on fast side of the curve rather on the front side, great shots. From what I see had some good shots.

A great photo only starts with the shutter release,

Very nice. I'm digging the red team stirrup socks! Talk about OLD school uniforms!

Maybe a little more shutter speed than 1/800 for batting shots...it's obviously close to a bat on ball but there's too much blur on the ball and bat to be able to tell. The third might be a delete, it doesn't really do anything and is crooked...

Great series here. And an incredible setup! 300 and a 7d...I wish.

A couple of the shots look like they've been edited too much or too little. In #2, unless you were going for it, I would bump the ISO to 400 or so and get the ss up to 1/3200 if I did my math correctly. You could have gotten a very cool bat-on-ball, but then again it depends on what you're going for.

Also, if you have a 2x TC, get out the the outfield and shoot from into the catcher and batter. It's a different shot that not to many people get!

I have a 1.4xTC and I might try adding that early in the next game for some extra reach to the outfield, or outfield back in. Here is a shot I took later in the game. Not my favorite, focus wasn't spot on, but I like the perspective. This was ISO 1000, 1/400 at 2.8.

I know now that I really need to keep that shutter speed faster, especially where the ball is concerned. Cranking the ISO will be necessary. I wasn't aware enough of the speeds needed.

I was doing quick edits mostly with Topaz Adjust and some of the look I did want, to add in that texture and shadow. After 100 or so shots I start to want to differentiate the images.

Thanks for looking.

What exactly were you doing with top adjust? Examples?

Using some of the presets to pop the color a bit, enhance contrast. In many cases I'd dial the presets down a bit, but I like the effect.
