I used 2 cameras yesterday .... and I just uploaded both cards ... and only the images from the latter card are saved under 10-04-24

Did lightroom just nix all my images from the earlier card?

Please tell me that is not so and I just suck at finding them

(LR 3 Beta)

sad and freaking out

I sure hope you didn't reformat the cards before checking that your files were safely copied and backed up.

If nothing changed between the first and second card, it's hard to understand why they aren't all together - unless they had the same file numbers and you have "Do not copy suspected duplicates" checked.

Is there a chance that you have a display filter set in lightroom so that it is only showing images from one of the cameras and not the other?
Unless you are meaning in the folders themselves and not through lightroom?

Check in your file browser -- maybe you are just "missing something".

Along the lines of what Elie mentioned -- did you rename the files as you imported them? Did you give them an identical name/sequence? If so and like Elie said you opted to not import duplicates, that's likely the problem, and you may need to do an image rescue on the card if you deleted files or reformatted. I always keep importing duplicates on just in case, and I typically name my files with a camera designation when I have more than one camera in a shoot. I may or may not put them in separate folders, depending on the nature of the shoot.

Ordinarily, when you have multiple imports even on the same day, images from each import are presented as a group in the Library separately, even though the images all reside in the same destination folder.

That's a very good point -- after an import you will only see the immediate import unless you go to the actual folder in the Library module, either by navigating or by right-clicking on an image and choosing Go to Folder in Library (or whatever exact wording it is:)!
