Just got back from the RIAT at RAF Fairford. I got these shots when the RAF Typhoon was doing his display practise on Friday Afternoon. He came over the top of a square loop, with what appeared to be too much speed, and couldn't level out at the preferred height. As you can see, he managed to get level just above the ground:oops:  . Thank God that the Typhoon has got shed loads of power, because I'm not sure that a different aircraft type would have recovered.

If you were wondering, he finally bottomed out at SIXTEEN FEET:eek:    !! and then was promptly told to land by Air Traffic

I've edited this so that you can see the series showing the event a bit better

Seems like someone else didn't make it doing the same thing a few years ago & had to punch out.

I was on the top row of the FRIAT stand at show centre, it wasn't a concious thought but I didn't feel right when i was looking straight across at him. I would have been about 20' off the floor.

Great capture of what must have been a seriously "nervous" moment!
