So I'm wanting to improve on my shooting. I had a Nikon D40 for roughly a year.. these are some of my more liked pictures. I had sold my Nikon back in Nov. and took a break but recently bought a Canon 30D and I'm wanting to focus more on photography (been more focused on cars lol). So here are some shots. I'm looking for advice or pointers, no need to sugar coat it as I'm pretty hard on what I do.

Edit: I forgot to mention that these have no editing on them at all except the first one I changed to b&w... I haven't really played around with editing yet.

Thanks in advance :D

(This was taken with a cheapo point and shoot... its one of my favorites but I'm sure the quality isn't very good lol)

First time out at night with tripod, this is an area where I feel I have the most to learn.

This was taken with a cheapo point and shoot...

It's not the camera. You just didn't work within it's limitations & tell it what to do. It's way too close for even light from the flash on camera so the chrome is blown while the bike is in a black hole. For better results, see the links in my Sig and...

Oh you wouldn't be saying that if you used this one lol, it was a $80 off brand, it was horrible to use unless it was sunny out... The flash was horrible. The bike on the other hand was an 06 Softail that was painted flat black... so thats maybe why it looks like a black whole

Flat black can look pretty good. I shot this one at a show: Black Beauty!

There's a link to the before/after in post #3.

Looks very good, that picture I took was actually at a HD shop I worked at. It was when I first got interested in photography.

You need to work further into getting some more creative angles, IMO.

IMO, there's a reason that people start with the same old angles... they just make the subject look good? You get to post 8 shots here, so first make it look good, then you can go nuts for all I care. :D

Honestly when I shoot, I just walk around till I see something that could look good.. Of the silver car I shot that in an alley, but I have done under hwy over passes and even some in downtown areas... I would post some of them as maybe they were better but they are on my home computer.. and I'm not there right now. Weather is looking decent for this weekend so I might try to go shoot some.. I also am picking up a 50 tonight so I might play with it some.

Exactly. There are angles which are almost "classic" and for that almost always end up looking good. The shot with the car in the alley dont say anything about the car, in fact is confusing....what is the subject here...the car? the alley? the weed in the middle? See what I mean?
