Pano/HDR

Just toying with an idea.

I'd like to do a large pano shot (180 degrees of coverage or so). I'd like to also make it an HDR image. My question is, if I do a +/- 2 EV for each segment of the shot, should I combine the segments into three different pano's, and then merge them with Photomatix, or should I Photomatix the three shots of each segment, and then merge the HDRs into a stitched pano . . .?

Just wondering which way would be best, and why . . .

I have tried both ways and have had much better success making 3 pano's then combining for HDR.

Thanks. That is sort of what I was thinking, just understanding the two technologies involved.
