Starting to play around with HDR and Photomatix. I know the sky looks a liitle overcooked, but I wanted that real dramatic cloud formation to really pop.
Any suggestions for improvement?

Bob

I like it but the clouds are burned out. That is the kind of think that we are usually trying to avoid in HDR work.
I would strongly suggest going back over the processing and try to keep some detail in the highlights.

How many different shots did you put in the stack for this result?

Personally, I prefer the first image. Even with the burned highlights. Where in Victoria was this shot, Bob?

McCauley Point in Esquimalt. Park at Fleming Beach and walk to the point.

I guess one could clone out the burned out highlights in the first one, cause I think I prefer it myself.

I like the first one. It is more dramatic. The second one lost that snap the first one had.

Thanks! I usually view this bit of land from the end of the breakwater, as I live in James Bay :D

Ever see any wildlife there?

I agree with the others - in spite of the blown out clouds, the original had more pizazz!
