Just a quick poll to get peoples opinion.

So i ordered a 5D MKII package from Cameta (CF card, bag, etc. other useless things i'll probly sell...) It took them 4 days to email me and tell me it was out of stock. They had an issue with their shipment it was damaged. They said their new shipment would come in about a week or so. The lady was kind of rude when i was trying to figure out what she meant exactly. (originally i thought this was one of those bait & switch schemes)

She gave me the option of cancelling the order for a refund or wait till the bodies arrive. I told her to leave it as is, and i'll think about it and contact them if i change my mind.

I was wondering, if i could ask them to throw in something extra or upgrade me to faster shipping or something for my business if i decide to wait.

Do you think its too much? or your the customer, they should appreciate it. I figure the worst they can say is "We can't do that sorry"...

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I almost went with Cameta via Ebay but ended up going with PMIdigital since BCB was instant and I've heard Cameta's wasn't. I ordered mine last Wed and I will be getting my 5DmkII tomorrow. It wouldn't hurt to ask to ship expedited but I've only ordered smaller items from Cameta and had no issues.

i think asking for quicker shipping is reasonable.
for all they know, you may need it urgently and its been delayed.

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday after ordering a 5D2/grip combo, although they didn't give me an estimated arrival date on the new shipment. Wrote back with a few questions but still waiting to hear from them, kinda aggravated as I was planning on using it this week.

Yep, I think asking for quicker shipping is reasonable.

Odd that you say the lady was rude, I've dealt with Cameta quite frequently and a few months back had to return a defective item. They have always been pleasant when I've talked to them on the phone.

Yea, I was just trying to make things clear. It's a pretty big purchase and wanted to be 100% on the details. Maybe i just caught her on a bad Monday morning... That was probly the 100th time she explained the story to someone...

But I let it go, i read nothing but good reviews from them so that's why i chose them...

I avoid calling sellers on Mondays for that reason. If you look at some of the petty negatives they've received you can see why. "I bought on a Friday night and it didn't get here until Thursday" and "I had to pay $xxx in customs duty" and so on. As a matter of fact I placed an order with them over the weekend and haven't received a shipping confirmation on it yet but fortunately it's not something I need right away.

I think you forgot "cancel the order" on your poll. I only deal with B&H these days. No fuss, no muss, no attitude.

And no 8% cashback or 2% eBay bucks. ;)

Another vote for B&H. In stock, good service, decent prices. Sometimes if you ask for a formal quote they will give you a lower price. Especially if you're buying a big package of stuff. (worked for me!)

I just got my tracking number as well. Congrats on it, I really like my 5D2 and it will be some time before I buy another FF body.

Got my tracking number today as well, guess it wasn't too bad of a wait after all.
